Be True and The Audience Will Come To You

Before we even start, I know what you’re thinking, “That was the cheesiest title you could have written.” And maybe you’re right. But there’s no better way to draw readers’ attention than being authentic and true to your brand. And that right there, is your key to success.

With AI taking the internet by storm, being true to your audience means more than ever before. When your audience can tell that the copy or image used in your content is clearly AI generated, they tend to turn away from you, feeling like the authenticity of your brand isn’t true. I have had these exact feelings about brands that I follow.

For example, I follow a restaurant that sells extreme dessert waffles, and they look SO good. But I haven’t tried them yet but am aiming to get there someday. However, recently, they have started to roll out content that is clearly AI generated and it feels very unauthentic. I am not the only one that feels weird about it. When you open the comment section, it’s full of “Why the AI?” and “Oh this is strange, just take regular photos.” The poorly executed AI images have since been deleted because of the negative reactions they’ve attracted. But the damage may already be done, sure, I’ve stuck around, but that was enough for many others to jump ship.

Let this be your reminder that organic feeling content is always the way to go. Consumers are drawn to content that makes them feel like they are making a connection to a brand that they like. The type of posts you release and tools you use are going to make or break it.

What types of content help your brand feel authentic?

  • Behind the scenes – people love to see what is going on behind closed doors.

  • Real photos and videos – people want to see real people with personality!

  • Interactive Posts – there’s no better way to get people engaged by involving them in posts, polls, and comments.

  • Engagement – Interact with people in the comments, make them feel seen and heard!

So, do you have to banish AI from your practices? Not necessarily. There are smart ways to use it to enhance your execution without sacrificing the human connection that people desire. AI is great to help produce ideas and outlines for posts, calendars, and other backend tasks. But don’t let it consume your posts, because your audience will notice.

Be authentic and true, don’t let AI try to do all the work for you.
