Project Summary

This title sequence in a combination of dance, videography, and graphic design all merged into one visually interesting piece using Adobe After Effects.

Objective

This project's objective was to create an eye-catching sequence that highlights each dancer's athletic and creative ability through visually engaging design elements that complement each movement.

Process

Filming

Each dancer had three chances to show off some of their favorite skills and sequences. By using a tripod placed in the center of the room, I was able to maintain a consistent position that would allow me to later create seamless transitions.

Design Process

After filming all 9 final videos, I created my storyboard by going through each video; looking specifically at the beginning and the end and puzzle pieced each video together so that each dancer could appear and disappear in an engaging and surprising way. Once I had the order of videos, I found points within each video where I could highlight movement through slow motion, scaling, outlines, and freezeframes.

With all the videos mapped out, I went into After Effects and created each within their own compositions and then brought them all together to try to reduce the number of moving pieces on my workspace. Once that was done, it was all about the delicate details. Tweaking positioning, scaling, and other keyframes to make sure each transition was flawless.

The final piece of the puzzle was to put music in the background to not only enhance the viewing experience but emphasize the content. For this reason, I chose an energetic song that would keep the viewers engaged and interested.

After many hours of cleaning and refining, I am proud to present my Dance Title Sequence!
